Lip Fillers : Add Volume to Your Lips
Full facial volume is associated with youth. As we age we very often lose volume in our cheeks and lips. Our lips may appear thinner and wrinkled. The upper lip may develop vertical lines along the vermillion border that cannot be camouflaged with make-up. Smokers are particularly prone to developing these vertical grooves. Most people think that they have to live with this deflated appearance but with the best lip fillers available in NJ, Dr. Kopelman now has easy and safe non-surgical methods to restore and revitalize the volume of your lips. Lip fillers can enhance your lips without creating an exaggerated “overdone” appearance. Doctor Kopelman will assess the proportions and symmetry of your lips. Some people have asymmetries or facial weakness that can effect the contours and shape of their lips. Using lip fillers, Dr. Kopelman can selectively add volume to specific areas of the lips to create greater symmetry and facial balance.
Q: How does Dr. Kopelman perform lip augmentation with lip fillers?

A: Lip augmentation with lip fillers is relatively simple. To assure your complete comfort prior to the injection of lip fillers Dr. Kopelman will topically apply an anesthetic cream to the surface of your lips. This ointment is specifically designed for moist surfaces and differs from anesthetic creams that numb your skin. After waiting a few minutes small amounts of sugar gel (hyaluronic) filler are injected below the top layer of the lips with a blunt microcannula or tiny fine needle. Dr. Kopelman is very experienced in creating fuller lips that appear beautiful, subtle, natural and that will enhance your other facial features.

Q: What are lip fillers made of and are they safe?

A: Dr. Kopelman only uses F.D.A. approved lip fillers that are made of hyaluronic acid gels. They are safe and only very rarely are patients allergic to these products. Depending upon your aesthetic goals, Dr. Kopelman will select the ideal filler such as Restylane Silk®, Belotero Balance®, or Juvederm®, to volumize and fill in lines around your lips.

Q: How long do lip fillers last?

A: The duration of the lip fillers can vary between patients. Some patients absorb the lip filler faster than others. However, most people find that lip fillers made of hyaluronic acid gel can last between 6 to 9 months. Retreatment approximately twice a year is recommended to maintain the aesthetic improvement.

Q: Are there any steps that you should take prior to having your lip filler injections?

A: Yes, in order to minimize bruising and additional swelling Dr.Kopelman advises his patients to stop any of the following drugs or homeopathic medicines such as fish oil, vitamin E , aspirin, Motrin®, Advil®, ibuprofen, and many other blood thinners two weeks prior to their lip filler treatment. In addition if you have a history of cold sores Dr.Kopelman will prescribe medication in advance to lower the risk of a recurrence. Most people can be treated at the time of their initial consultation.

Q: Is there any aftercare following lip fillers?

A: No, Dr.Kopelman does not want you to massage your lips or apply ice. These maneuvers can actually cause more swelling.

Q: When can you return to your daily activities or work after lip fillers?

A: Most people find the injections well tolerated, swelling is usually minimal after a lip augmentation and you can resume your daily schedules immediately

  • Lip Injections are very well tolerated.
  • Little or no downtime
  • Quick and easy (procedure takes approx.30 minutes)
  • Natural appearance
  • Soft feel
