Upper Eyelid Complications- Avoidance and “Cure”

Upper eyelid cosmetic surgery sometimes technically called an upper eyelid blepharoplasty usually involves the removal of loose upper eyelid skin , bulging fat, and lax muscle I have examined many patients who have had upper eyelid surgery performed by other surgeons where too much fat and skin has been removed or where the skin incision is made too high. Overly aggressive fat and skin removal or incisions that are placed too high can result in a hollow superior sulcus deformity and the platform above your eyelashes may appear too wide If the eyelid surgery is not well thought in advance at the time of the consultation the outcome of the surgery may result in an undesirable change in the shape of your eyelids and may unintentionally effeminize a man’s appearance.

Non-surgical modification of the undesirable superior eyelid depression can be filled with a small amount of injectable hyaluronic acid filler like Restylane , Juvederm or Belotero. I select the ideal filler for your problem and painlessly inject the gel through a tiny imperceptible “port” utilizing a blunt micro-cannula. I use a cannula because I believe that it is safer, more precise, and less likely to cause bruising compared with a sharp needle.

Result: After injection with a filler your eyelid will appear less hollow, your eyelid fold will appear lower and you will no longer have a surgical “done” look
