LATISSE®is a drug that was originally found to lower pressure inside the eye. The drug was also found to stimulate the growth of eyelashes. The lashes gradually became longer and thicker. It is important to apply LATISSE® only to the base of the upper eyelashes with an applicator that accompanies the drug kit. DO NOT apply to the lower eyelashes. Read the instructions on how to apply the drug contained in the drug kit.
Q: What are some of the possible side effects from using Latisse®? A: In Dr. Kopelman’s experience If you apply Latisse® correctly there is a low incidence of undesirable side-effects but if you apply Latisse® incorrectly it may cause increased brown pigmentation of the iris (the colored part of the eye) which is likely to be permanent. Eyelid skin darkening may also occur and may be reversible.Other common side effects are itchy and red eyes.
Q: Is Latisse® a permanent way to grow your eyelashes? A: No,If discontinued, lashes will gradually return to their previous appearance. Some patients have used Latisse® in an off- label application to thicken eyebrow hair that they may have been over-plucked.
