Facial fillerscorrect the loss of skin tone and elasticity. As we age a downward descent and atrophy of facial fat, soft tissue and bone occurs. This facial “deflation” appears as a slowly progressive sagging and hollowing around the eyelids and cheeks. Shadows and depressions appear. There is a loss of facial balance and harmony. Skin loses its tone and elasticity. Facial bones, including the teeth, function as structural support for the overlying soft tissues, shift and gum recession occurs. We begin to see the overlying skin sag particularly around the mouth, jawline, and cheeks. Temples may appear hollow. Vertical lines start to appear and the folds starting at the corners of your nose and descending around the outside border of your lips become deeper. The good news is that these wrinkles and age-related volume changes can now be corrected by plumping up these depressions from below the skin with dermal facial fillers.
Q: Are facial fillers safe?
A:Facial fillers are safe and very popular aesthetic solutions for most patients because they are non- allergenic and can be performed as walk-in / walk-out procedures that can provide immediate gratification.
Q: How long do these fillers last?
A: Most hyaluronic facial fillers last between nine months to two years.
At the time of your consultation I will discuss your aesthetic options. I employ these facial fillers in a very selective artistic manner to balance your facial features. I will choose the ideal facial filler and I will inject the exact amount of filler into specific areas of your face to achieve a perfect balance and harmony with the rest of your facial features. My goal is to give you a more youthful, relaxed and softer appearance using the best facial fillers. For your safety and comfort I primarily utilize micro-cannulas to inject the facial fillers. These micro-cannulas also have the benefit of producing less bruising. My conservative approach leads to an enhancement of your natural beauty not an overdone or exaggerated likeness of yourself. It is commonly necessary to use a combination of facial fillers to achieve the optimum result and these fillers are often used in tandem with neuromodulators like Botox®, Dysport®, or Xeomin® as well as laser skin treatments to erase sun-damage and signs of aging.
Restylane Lyft®, Belotero®, and Voluma®. These “sugar gels” are biosynthetically manufactured, are not derived from animals, and only very rarely are patients allergic to these products. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in our bodies in soft connective tissue and joints. Hyaluronic gels are sterile, pre- loaded in syringes, are well tolerated and do not require skin testing. The ease, safety, and reversibility of these products make them very popular.
2) Collagen Stimulant:Sculptra® is a biodegradable product stimulates the production of dermal collagen. This product is especially useful in adding volume to the cheeks and temples. It is not a true filler like hyaluronic gels because it gradually takes a few weeks to months to see the final results of the enhancement. Many people consider this gradual improvement a positive feature of this product. The improvement from Sculptra® usually lasts two or more years.
3) Autogenous Fat Grafts: Grafting your own fat has distinct advantages. Fat is typically “donated” from you abdomen or hip. Because it comes from your own body it is biocompatible and it won’t be “rejected” by your body. After fat is obtained from donor sites it is spun down in a centrifuge and sterilely re-injected into your face. It has the potential to last the longest but fat does have some disadvantages as well. Fat grafts require a minor surgical procedure to obtain the fat, and therefore there is a longer recovery period following grafting compared with “off-the-shelf” synthetic dermal fillers. Grafted fat can also expand or contract when a person gains or loses body weight. This is particularly of concern in younger people who have hormonal fluctuations in their body weight. However, the main limitation of using fat is the unpredictable reabsorption of fat after it is grafted. It is common for only thirty percent of the fat to be retained after it is grafted which means that additional sessions of fat grafting may be necessary to achieve an ideal correction.Despite these reservations fat grafting does have a place in selective facial volume enhancement.
